Nature

The robins arrived yesterday on their migration. They didn’t stay long. They are so pretty with their brick red breasts. Often I see the seasons emerge with bird migration as well as the gradual changes in flora through the months.

It has always been a delight for me to study the cusps of seasons and I often study that magic with my paintings. Biologists, naturalists, and other earth scientists are keenly aware of these subtleties as one season crosses to another.

I have studied the land as a painter for many long years, enjoying that growth of skill, and understanding of the natural world. Study of nature and painting it is a team effort. My roots grow deep in both.

This country painter loves the woods…..

The way you captured the light off the wetlands here is stunning. The gradiation of color expresses the sunlight so perfectly. Inspiring.

Thank you very much Thea. This is marsh in Savannah Georgia. A recent commission.

I live in Minnesota, so winter is long and deep. A week ago or so, I noticed there are more woodpecker noises on my daily walk. And yesterday morning I heard the fee-bee song of the black-capped chickadee. It's my sign that spring really is coming!

Hi Amanda,
We are having the coldest winter in years here in Florida. My bird friends are flocking to my feeders and bird baths for drinking.
Love,
Linda
