Studio Visit Tips 1

Before visiting a studio or gallery think about the size you will want to hang on your wall. I suggest putting a piece of paper on your wall to see if it is the right size. Consider the extra inches of framing if you want a framed piece of art. This is much better than just measuring.

Consider the style of your furnishings, the color and mood of your space. More traditional or modern? Still life, landscape, floral, abstract? Price range and budget. Be realistic. Don’t expect a well known, skilled artist to sell a large painting for a low price. If your budget is low, choose a beginning artist for large paintings.

Plan your visit to an artist’s studio in advance. This gives you and the artist time to prepare ahead. We southern artists like to welcome you with a bit of hospitality, food and drinks. I serve tea and snacks to my guests. I have been told that other regions do not.

This country painter loves a visit….
