Story Telling

I believe story telling is a very important component to a successful art career. People love artists’ stories. I don’t mean the “art speak” that museum shows and galleries put out. Most collectors have little interest in the mechanics of creating art. That is for artists’ interests.

Instead, most collectors love a story about the art they love. If a collector is drawn to a painting and comes back to view, it is time for a story about the painting. People love a narrative about the places or genres they love themselves. You will discover a commonality of interest when you have a story to tell. Don’t be afraid to share what interests you about favorite places and interests. You will develop friendships, which is far more important than trying to sell to people.

I have written my Art and Stories blog for many years. For whatever reason, people read it regularly. I’m so grateful to all who do. It is important for artists to share our life stories with our friends.  I have many good friends I have only met through my stories. They are near and dear to me though we have never met formally.

This country painter is grateful to all…..
